Memory Babies Outreach

“Do not cast me away when I am old; do not forsake me when my strength is gone.” Psalm 71:9

Santa & Friends has delivered hundreds of “Memory Babies” to Alzheimer’s/Dementia patients living in nursing homes.

Some patients spend hours happily holding and caring for their baby. We have seen nonverbal patients who talk to their baby. The baby brings joy, reduces anxiety and aggression, and adds meaning to their day. These patients are not just playing with a doll; they are meeting a vital need to nurture.

Using a baby doll can be an effective method for reducing stress and agitation individuals with Alzheimer’s or forms of dementia. Caregivers can implement doll therapy as a way to reintroduce responsibility, care, and structure into the lives of those by Alzheimer’s. Santa & Friends aspires for their “memory babies” to provide comfort and joy to these individuals. They hope these dolls will help them to remember with what their minds have forgotten.

If you would like to donate a memory baby, please go to our donate section or contact us at dcann1950@hotmail.com or 919-909-0878. Any baby donated can be named in honor of your loved one.
